Frequently Asked Questions

What is gender-affirming care?

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, gender-affirming care is a supportive form of healthcare consisting of an array of services that may include medical, surgical, mental health, and non-medical services for transgender and nonbinary people. Allies’ gender-affirming care includes masculinizing and feminizing hormone replacement therapy, and we offer referrals for services we cannot provide in our clinic.

What kind of gynecological care does Allies offer?

Allies offers routine gynecological visits, including pelvic exams, Pap tests, breast exams, family planning and contraceptives. We also offer HPV vaccines for the prevention of human papilloma virus, a common virus that can lead to several types of cancer.

Do you offer financial assistance for primary care services?

Allies is committed to removing as many obstacles to care as possible for our patients. We accept most major insurances offered in the Pittsburgh area, and we can offer insurance navigation services for people without coverage. No one is turned away from Allies because of an inability to pay.
