Volunteer Code of Conduct
The following code of conduct outlines the expectations and responsibilities of Allies for Health + Wellbeing volunteers to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment for everyone involved. Our language is intentional and constructed in a way that reflects Allies’ values and moves us along the path to meeting commitments to our community.
This code applies to all volunteers participating in Allies activities and while engaging with Allies staff, patients, clients and other community members. Moreover, volunteers are expected to uphold what is set forth in the Allies Confidentiality Agreement which will be emailed to you shortly. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to the organization and its beneficiaries.
Allies Mission
At Allies for Health & Wellbeing, our mission is to improve health and wellbeing, through integrated medical care, supportive human services, and community-based education for individuals living with, or at risk of, HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections.
Allies Core Values

- Engagement - We foster engagement by recognizing the vulnerability that we are being entrusted with; celebrating personal and organizational milestones; owning our mistakes; encouraging staff autonomy in their roles; and sharing decision-making with consumers to manage their care, build self-efficacy, and maintain their health + wellbeing.
Obligations and Expectations
1. Commitment to Mission
- Uphold and support the mission and values of Allies for Health + Wellbeing in all activities.
- Represent Allies in a positive light while engaging in volunteer activities.
2. Respect and Dignity
- Treat all individuals with respect and dignity. Avoid offensive language and actions.
3. Safety
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the appropriate Allies contact.
- Absolutely no weapons of any kind are permitted to be on-site at Allies or used while volunteering.
- Allies prohibits the use of drugs or alcohol while participating volunteer activities.
4. Confidentiality
- Uphold what is set forth in the Allies Confidentiality Agreement. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to the organization and its beneficiaries.
5. Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination
- Allies will not accept harassment, bullying, and discrimination in any form.
6. Dress Code
- Please wear appropriate attire for the activities you are participating in, accounting for weather conditions and other factors, as specified by Allies.
7. Attendance and Punctuality
- Allies expects that you will be on time and reliable. Notify an Allies contact as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a scheduled volunteer activity.
8. Conflict Resolution
- Please address any conflicts, grievances, or feedback by speaking with an Allies staff member.
Understanding of the Volunteer Code of Conduct
No code of conduct can anticipate every circumstance or question about policy. Allies reserves the right to revise, supplement, or rescind any policies of the code, generally or in an individual case, from time to time as it deems appropriate, in its sole and absolute discretion.
By signing the Allies Volunteer Code of Conduct, I indicate that I have read, understood, and agree to uphold and abide by the outlined values, obligations and expectations. I also agree to accept the consequences of not following our Volunteer Code of Conduct or Confidentiality Agreement.
