Development Coordinator

Position Overview

The Development Coordinator is a full-time position and is responsible for generating financial and in-kind support for Allies by assisting with the implementation and outcomes associated with the annual campaign, fundraising events, donor cultivation and stewardship, and grant stewardship. The position will report to the Director of Development and work closely with Allies leadership and development volunteers.


Mission

To improve health and well-being, Allies provides integrated medical care, supportive human services, and community-based education for individuals living with, or at risk of HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Director, create and coordinate processes related to aspects of the annual campaign, including direct mail and email solicitations, and the employee campaign.
  • Work with the Director and volunteers to identify, research, and track event sponsorships and in-kind contributions.
  • Coordinate assigned event logistics for development events, including, but not limited to the Allies Ball and donor cultivation/stewardship events.
  • Maintain data in grant monitoring system (Instrumentl) to ensure that submission and reporting deadlines are accurate and current. Assist with grant research.
  • Serve as agency liaison and coordinate community-based fundraising events as needed.
  • Manage the charitable gift process, including gift processing, data entry, and gift acknowledgement to ensure that gifts are tracked accurately and acknowledged in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the donor database is accurate and up to date by entering information regularly and making corrections as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties as needed including filing, copying, sorting, mailing, etc.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a broad range of internal and external individuals/businesses. 
  • Knowledge of fundraising development practices and methods, including identifying and researching corporations, foundations, and individual prospects, relationship cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. 
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with development software (Raisers Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Self-directed, flexible with strong problem-solving abilities.

A bachelor’s degree with two years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization is required.

The Development Coordinator may be called upon to engage in physical activity related to general office work including the capacity to lift 35 lbs. and stand or sit for extended periods. The incumbent will also be required to travel locally for meetings and events. Current PA child abuse, PA criminal history, Federal criminal history clearances, and verification of TB test performed within the last year are required within the first 30 days of employment.

The designated budget for the Development Coordinator position is between $40K and $45K with distinctions made for education and experience.
